Training for Children and
Young People
Much of our work includes training for children and young people which is accredited through the ASDAN accreditation body. The training we offer is tailored to the work that young people get involved in and includes:
Training the trainers
Training young people in training skills and how to deliver participation training to adults and decision makers, using Standards and a Charter of Participation as a tool for action planning.
Setting up Grant Giving Panels
Training to set up and run young people’s grant schemes such as Sheffield’s Youth Opportunity Fund, and community-based young people’s funds such as Kerching!!!, a Young People’s Community Chest in North Sheffield.
Community Cohesion
Positive citizenship training to help young people understand their role as citizens within their community, and build bridges between young people from different neighbourhoods and communities.
Peer research
Training young people to be researchers within their own communities and neighbourhoods to identify young peoples’ views and issues. Organising area conferences and events to feedback the findings from the research to decision makers and service providers.
School Council Training
Training for primary and secondary school councils on how to run an effective school council, using the National School Council’s UK Training Programme.
Youth Forums and Parliaments
Training to set up and run area-based structures that bring children and young people together to be a representative voice in their communities and develop projects and activities that provide solutions to local issues.
Projects and Committees
Training to develop and manage individual projects including applying for and managing funding, and setting up management committees to run groups, conferences and events.
